Started Dogs
Should I buy a puppy or a grown dog? Not
everyone has the time and patience to raise a puppy
properly. The work in developing a puppy can be
demanding and frustrating; often involving much hard
work with no obvious immediate results. The puppy
trainer must have confidence that what is done at 8 weeks
will pay off at two years. If not imprinted and developed
properly, the trainer will be faced with retraining the dog;
requiring even more time and patience. One
solution is to buy a "started" dog.

"Started" dogs are 1 to 3 years old; fully socialized to children,
people, places and things, including livestock and other animals.
They have
begun training in all three phases
(obedience, tracking,
and protection) of Schutzhund, are familiar with the agility field,
and are
guaranteed to be physically and temperamentally sound.
My started dogs do
volunteer pet therapy
at both a
local nursing home and a day care facility.
